Web Programming Languages

In web programming many languages are used by different programmers. Some of this languages are PHP(PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor), ASP(Active Server Pages), JSP(JavaServer Pages), CFML(ColdFusion Markup Language), Javascripts, Perl, Ruby on Rails, Ajax Framework, and others. These languages are used to create and build a webpages, create their functions, commonly used for making the dynamics pages of the websites are the PHP, ASP, JSP, CFML, and other languages, this are some of the languages that i've used.

PHP(PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor), is a computer scripting language, originally designed for producing dynamic web pages. It is for server-side scripting, but can be used from a command line interface or in standalone graphical applications. - wikipedia

ASP(Active Server Pages), is Microsoft's first server-side script engine for dynamically-generated web pages. It was initially marketed as an add-on to Internet Information Services (IIS) via the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, but has been included as a free component of Windows Server since the initial release of Windows 2000 Server. Programming ASP websites is made easier by various built-in objects. Each object corresponds to a group of frequently-used functions useful for creating dynamic web pages. In ASP 2.0 there are six such built-in objects: Application, ASPError, Request, Response, Server, and Session. Session, for example, is a cookie-based session object that maintains variables from page to page. Web pages with the ".asp" or file extension use ASP, although some Web sites disguise their choice of scripting language for security purposes. The ".aspx" extension is not an ASP page, but an ASP.NET page, another server-side scripting language from Microsoft, based on a mixture of traditional ASP, and Microsoft's .NET technology. - wikipedia

JSP(JavaServer Pages), is a Java technology that allows software developers to dynamically generate HTML, XML or other types of documents in response to a Web client request. The technology allows Java code and certain pre-defined actions to be embedded into static content.

The JSP syntax adds additional XML-like tags, called JSP actions, to be used to invoke built-in functionality. Additionally, the technology allows for the creation of JSP tag libraries that act as extensions to the standard HTML or XML tags. Tag libraries provide a platform independent way of extending the capabilities of a Web server. - wikipedia

CFML(ColdFusion Markup Language), more commonly known as CFML, is the scripting language used by Adobe ColdFusion, New Atlanta's BlueDragon and several alternative server environments such as Coral Web Builder, IgniteFusion, Railo. It is similar to HTML in that it uses tags, need not be well-formed, and includes a built-in script tag to allow inline scripting within markup. - wikipedia

JavaScript is a scripting language most often used for client-side web development. It was the originating dialect of the ECMAScript standard. It is a dynamic, weakly typed, prototype-based language with first-class functions. JavaScript was influenced by many languages and was designed to look like Java, but be easier for non-programmers to work with. The language is best known for its use in websites (as client-side JavaScript) but is also used to enable scripting access to objects embedded in other applications (for example Microsoft Gadgets in the Windows Sidebar).

JavaScript, despite the name, is essentially unrelated to the Java programming language though both have the common C syntax, and JavaScript copies many Java names and naming conventions. The language was renamed from LiveScript in a co-marketing deal between Netscape and Sun in exchange for Netscape bundling Sun's Java runtime with their then-dominant browser. The key design principles within JavaScript are inherited from the Self programming language.

"JavaScript" is a trademark of Sun Microsystems. It was used under license for technology invented and implemented by Netscape Communications and current entities such as the Mozilla Foundation. - wikipedia

Perl is a dynamic programming language created by Larry Wall and first released in 1987. Perl borrows features from a variety of other languages including C, shell scripting (sh), AWK, sed and Lisp. Perl was widely adopted because it provides powerful text processing facilities without arbitrary data length limits, as were present in many Unix tools at the time. - wikipedia

Ruby on Rails is a free web application framework designed to make web development faster, simpler and more efficient. Often shortened to Rails, or RoR, Ruby on Rails is written in the Ruby programming language. - wikipedia

An Ajax framework is a framework that helps to develop web applications that use Ajax, a collection of technologies used to build dynamic web pages on the client side. Data is read from the server or sent to the server by JavaScript requests. However, some processing at the server side may be required to handle requests, such as finding and storing the data. This is accomplished more easily with the use of a framework dedicated to process Ajax requests. The goal of the framework is to provide the Ajax engine described below and associated server and client-side functions. - wikipedia
